| In linguistics, syntax (from Ancient Greek σύνταξις coordination; σύν: syn together; τάξις táxis order) is “the study of the principles and processes by which sentences are constructed in particular languages.” – Chomsky, Noam (2002) [1957]. Syntactic Structures.In linguistics, grammar (From Greek: γραμματική) is the set of rules governing the composition of clauses, phrases, and words in any given natural language. This includes spelling, punctuation, usage. For example, in English, the first word in the sentence after a colon is capitalized. So are the names of languages, such as English, or Spanish. Syntax is how a sentence is worded and structured. It consists of the type of sentence (Declarative, Interrogative, Exclamatory, Imperative, etc), word order (passive vs. active voice), among other elements. It also refers to length of sentences (short vs. long). An example: His long-held wish: To walk slowly through the tortuous mountain paths that his grandfather had so lovingly and patiently carved out of the earth many years ago. His Spanish would help hin once he arrived at his destination. Syntax would refer to this sentence being declarative. It would also refer to the length of the sentence mimicking the long twisted paths in the mountain and the long time the boy had been wishing to walk them. Grammar would refer to the proper conjugación, spelling punctuation, and relationship between the various elements of the sentence. In the following sentence syntax informs us that is is a short interrogative sentence. Grammar informs us that all the rules are being followed: spelling, conjugation, word order, etc. Did the boy wish to walk through the mountain paths his grandfather had carved? Syntax looks into how a sentence is constructed, while Grammar keeps us in line with the rules of usage. They are two different things that can be easily confused. En lingüística, sintaxis (del griego σύνταξις: coordinacion; σύν: sin: unión; τάξις: táxis: orden) es “el estudio de las reglas y procesos con los que las oraciones están construidas en lenguas específicas.” Chomsky, Noam (2002 [1957]. Estructuras Sintácticas.En lingüística, la gramática (del griego: γραμματική) es el grupo de reglas que gobiernan la composición the las clausulas, las frases, y las palabras en cualquier lengua. Esto incluye la ortografía. En español, por ejemplo, mayúsculas no son automáticamente utilizadas después de los dos puntos (:). Igualmente, los nombres propios de las lenguas no se escriben con mayúsculas, por ejemplo, inglés, o español. La sintaxis es la estructura y el uso de palabras en una oración. Consiste en el tipo de oración (declarativa, interrogativa, exclamatoria, imperativa, etc), el orden de las palabras (voz pasiva Vs voz activa), entre otros elements. También se refiere al tamaño de las oraciones (cortas Vs largas). Un ejemplo: Su más añorado deseo: el poder caminar lentamente a través de los tortuosos caminos montañosos que su abuelo había paciente y amorosamente escarbado de la tierra tantos años antes. Su español le ayudaría una vez llegase a su destino. La sintaxis se referiría a esta oración siendo declarativa: está declarando un deseo que tuvo el joven. También se referiría al tamaño de la oración, imitando las largas rutas en la montaña y el largo tiempo que ha durado el deseo de este joven. La gramática se referiría al mantenimiento de correctas conjugaciones, su ortografía y las relaciones entre los diferentes elementos de la oración. En la siguiente oración, la sintáctica nos informa que esta es una oración interrogativa y corta. La gramática nos informa que todos los elementos en la oración están utilizando las reglas del lenguaje correctamente. ¿Deseaba el joven caminar por las rutas que su abuelo había escarbado en la montaña? La sintaxis estudia a la manera de construir una oración mientras que la gramática nos da las reglas de lo que se permite para mantener buena forma en el lenguaje.
